WEEK 5 AREA FOOTBALL GAME PREVIEWS

Central Suburban South Report

Maine South (3-1, 0-0) at Evanston (4-0, 0-0) Friday 7:30
The 17-time defending CSL South champion Hawks (AP 8A No.4), look to open up defense of their CSL South championships against the undefeated Wildkits (AP 8A No. 6). Maine South holds an 84-1 is the CSL South during the 17 CSL South championship seasons. The lone loss came in Week 7 of the 2016 season to New Trier,ending a 77-game CSL South winning streak.

QB Cole Dow, has thrown for 409 yards and four TDs and rushed for 124 more yards and two TD. The area’s top-two WR’s reside in Park Ridge. Junior WRs Ryan Kilberg (308 receiving yards, 4TD) and Danny Lazic (265 receiving yards, 2TD), are Dow’s favorite targets. Lazic has rushed for 124 yards and two TDs.

Evanston is led by the deadly Wildkit passing combo of Ben Tarpy (591 yards passing, 9TD) to WR/DB Gerard Lamour (315 yards receiving 5TD’s). Lamour also leads the Wildkits, in tackles, tackles for losses and broken up passes, from his defensive back position. Lamour has two interceptions, too

Marian C Catholic (3-1, 1-1) at Notre Dame (3-1, 1-1) Friday 7

The Week 4 Voyager Media Publications Team of the Week Dons, look to continue to roll against their guests, from Woodstock.
The Hurricanes are led by their QB Patsy Ricciardi who has passed for 462 yards with six touchdown passes. Ricciardi has ran for 369 yards and four touchdowns.

RB Luke Rogers, has rushed for a team-leading 428 yards with three touchdowns. WR Bryce Radcliffe is Ricciardi’s favorite receiver with 293 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

The Dons are led by their all-everything RB/DB, Ty Gavin. Gavin has rushed for 459 yards with seven touchdowns. Gavin has a receiving touchdown, plus a pick six interception return, for six. His 54 points ranks second in the area in scoring. Sophomore QB Anthony Sayles, has thrown for 296 yards with two touchdowns and has rushed for 223 yards and two touchdowns.

Our apologies to ND junior RB Julian Schurr. Schurr has burst on the scene, rushing for 286 yards and four touchdowns.  The mean Don “D”, is led by linebackers,senior Patrick Corden and junior Anthony Ranallo.

Joliet Catholic Academy (3-1, 2-0) at Marist (3-1, 2-0) Friday 7
“Hailey’s Comet” will be seen over the Mount Greenwood neighborhood of Chicago, as Joliet Catholic (AP 5A No. 8) RB Keenan Hailey takes the Redhawks of Marist (AP 8A No. 5). Hailey has run for an area best 805 yards and has scored another area best, 13 touchdowns, this season. FB Nick Iannantone, has rumbled for 291 yards with three touchdowns for the Hilltoppers.

 

QB Jordan Alvarez has thrown for 272 yards with two touchdown passes. Alvarez’s favorite targets are Izaiah Murphy (105 receiving yards TD), Hailey (73 receiving yards TD) and Mike Green (59 receiving yards).

The Redhawks are led by their senior QB Mike Markett who has thrown for 777 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 283 yards with five touchdowns. WR Billy Skilitzky has hauled in 352 receiving yards with one touchdown catch. Skilitzky has rushed for 166 more yards from scrimmage, with three touchdowns.

WRs Jayden Thompson (189 receiving yards 2TD) and Declan Ryan (133 receiving yards 2TD), complete the formidable RedHawk air attack.

Nazareth Academy (4-0, 2-0) at Benet Academy (3-1, 1-1) Friday 7 Benedictine University

Before a LIVE CN 100 audience, the Redwings (AP 7A No. 12) hope to rebound from last week’s loss to Notre Dame, against the Roadrunners of Nazareth (AP 7A No.2), in Lisle on Friday night.

Roadrunner sophomore QB  JJ McCarthy has thrown for 833 yards and 10 touchdown passes, in the impressive four Roadrunner victories. WRs Diamond Evans and Michael Love, are McCarthy’s favorite targets, Evans has hauled in 405 receiving yards with five touchdowns. Love has 319 receiving yards and four touchdown catches. Love also leads the Roadrunner ground attack, with a surprisingly low, 119 yards on the season, with two touchdowns.

Senior QB Colin Gillespie leads the Redwings with 576 yards passing with three touchdowns. Gillespie has run for 224 yards and four touchdowns. WR Nico Kaspryzcki is Gillespie’s favorite target this season hauling in 182 receiving yards. All-purpose Jack Cooney has 152 yards in receptions with one touchdown.

After getting shutdown by Notre Dame last week, the Redwings’ ground attack looks to get back in form. Senior Ben Hickey has rushed for a team-high 305 yards with three touchdowns. Dave Wymer,has added 265 rushing yards with four touchdowns.

Interstate 8 Small

Lisle (4-0, 2-0) at Herscher (3-1, 1-0) Friday 7
After their heart-stopping, 34-33 win in Kankakee County,at Peotone, the undefeated Lions, hop on the bus and head back to Kankakee County, on Friday. Awaiting them will be the Tigers of Herscher High School. The Tigers are led by their senior RB Matt Dorsey who has rushed for 688 yards and seven touchdowns for the Tigers. Tiger QB Grant Goytia has thrown for 153 yards and one touchdown. Sophomore WR Cam Berns is Goytia’s favorite target, hauling in 116 receiving yards on the season.

 

One of 0ur area’s last two (Plainfield South) remaining undefeated teams, the Lions, are led by their senior QB Jay McGrath. McGrath has thrown for 507 yards with five touchdowns. McGrath has added four rushing touchdowns. McGrath also is the Lions’ place kicker and has an area’s, fourth best 33 points scored, for the Lions.

WRs, Jake Kowal (192 receiving yards), Demetrius Kelley (154 receiving yards 2 TD) and Demo King (119 receiving yards TD) have been McGrath’s favorite targets. RB Dylan Laue (196 yards 4 TD) and AJ Casmer (176 yards) along with McGrath take care of the Lion ground attack.

Southwest Prairie Conference Report
Oswego East (4-0, 4-0) at Plainfield South (4-0, 4-0) Friday 7

Two of the state’s Top Ten defenses, square off on the “South Side” on Friday Oswego East (AP 8A No. 15) has given up but one lone touchdown, in its  four SPC victories. The Wolves are third in the state with their 1.5 ppg allowed. Only South Elgin (4-0 four shutouts) and Montini (4-0 one field goal allowed), have performed better than the Wolves.

On offense, the Wolves use a rotating QB system with senior Brad Fern ( 400 yards passing, 6TD) and junior Corey Provo (250 yards passing 3TD). NIU-bound Justin Clark (350 yards receiving, 5TD) and Keion Battle (200 yards receiving 3TD) are Fern’s and Provo’s favorite receivers.

 

The vaunted Cougar “D” has allowed just 20 points, in South’s four SPC victories. The Cougars are tied for 8th in the state with their 5 ppg. Cougar senior LBs Connor Hall and Jake Kendall, lead the Cougars in tackles. DE  Adriel Montemayor, anchors the Cougs’ defensive line

The Cougars are led by  senior QB Cody Dieball, who currently is fifth in the area with 356 yards rushing and fourth in the area, in scoring with 42 points, on seven touchdowns. Senior RB/WR Todd Bell (270 yards rushing 4TDs) has added depth to the Cougar attack and QB Joe Passo has done well running the ball when Dieball has moved to RB.

Oswego (4-0, 4-0) at Plainfield East (2-2, 2-2)

The seven-time defending SPC champions, Panthers (AP 8A No. 4), invade Plainfield’s “East Side”. QB Noah Parker has thrown for 730 yards and 10 touchdowns. WR Jamal Fomby is Parker’s favorite receiver with 400 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Fomby,has a 25-yard rushing touchdown and a 95-yard kickoff-return for  six as well. Jack Lemke adds depth to the Panther receivers with 177 yards and two touchdowns.  The Panther ground game is in good hands, with senior Charles Coleman, who has rushed for 432 yards and six touchdowns.

The Bengals are led by the area passing-yardage leader Ben Mazurkiewciz, who has passed for 644 yards and five touchdowns. WRs Javen Mayes (172 yards receiving 2TD) and Nick Smith (164 yards receiving 2TD) are “Big Ben’s” primary targets.

Plainfield North (2-2, 2-2) at Minooka (2-2, 2-2) Friday 7

Another SPC QB duel, will take place in Minooka on Friday, between Minooka’s Seth Lehr and Plainfield North’s Eben Heine. Lehr has thrown for 603 yards and seven touchdown passes, which is second in the area.

Heine has thrown for 451 yards and seven touchdown passes. Heine threw for 254 of those passing yards and six of his seven touchdown passes, in the Tigers 56-13 win over Romeoville. In his first game of the season, WR Garret Cook, hauled in four touchdown  passes for 115 yards in the win over the Spartans.

Senior WR Brandon Vercler, leads the quality Indian receivers with 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Indians have five other receivers, led by Steven Gonzales with over 60 yards receiving this season.

Someone will pick up its first SPC victory at ‘The  Ville” on Friday night!

Joliet West is led by its passing combo of Alfonso Sanchez (272 yards passing 2TD) and standout WR Kevon Dorris.

Dorris ranks third in the area, with his 249 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Romeoville answers with the Spartans passing combo of QB Donovan DeHoyas (368 yards passing, 2TD) and standout WR Zach Gibson. Gibson has 199 receiving yards, which ranks fifth in the area and two touchdown catches. Gibson also will play QB for the Spartans.

Homecoming 2018 at Joliet Central High School on Saturday.

 

The host Steelmen are led by their QB Jared King. King has thrown for 408 yards and five touchdowns. King has also run for 119 more yards with three TDs. WR Andrew Murphy has been King’s favorite target with 178 receiving yards and two touchdown catches.

Plainfield Central is led by its QB Nick Barner who ranks sixth in the area with 415 yards passing and three touchdowns. WR Joey Krasmarsky has hauled in 160 receiving yards and a TD.

Southwest Suburban Conference Report 

Bolingbrook (3-1, 1-1) at Bradley-Bourbonnais (2-2, 0-2) Friday 7

RB Quentin Pringle and the Raiders, look to bounce back from last week’s H-F debacle, on Friday night. The Boilermakers and their rowdy fans, will try to keep the Raiders sliding.

Pringle has rushed for 481 yards and eight touchdowns, for the Raiders in 2018. Both marks are second in the area. Anthony Williams Jr adds 314 yards rushing with four TDs, for the Raider ground attack. QB Devyn Suggs has thrown for 213 yards with a pair of TDs for ‘The Brook

The Porters travel to Tinley Park, on Friday, in search of  their first win  of the season. Junior QB Marcos Voulgaris, has thrown for 397 yards on the season, with three touchdown passes. Voulgaris also has scored three rushing touchdowns, for the Porters this season. WR Malik Makhoulf has been Voulgaris’ favorite target, hauling 172 receiving yardage and two touchdowns.

West Suburban Gold Report

Addison Trail (0-4, 0-2) at Downers Grove South (1-3, 1-1) Friday 7 

Lisle’s legendary head football coach Paul Parpet Sr’s, son, Paul Jr. brings his Blazers to Downers Grove’s south side for the WSC Gold matchup. The Blazers are led by running back, J’Lan Williams, who has rushed for 290 yards and a pair of touchdowns. QB Nick Daudelin has thrown for 306 yards and AJ Wilson has been Daudelin’s favorite receiver, hauling in 231 receiving yards,

The Mustangs are led by their senior QB George Ross, who has thrown for 297 yards and two touchdowns. WR Vinnie Provenzano is Ross’s favorite receiver hauling in 207 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Provenzano ranks fourth in the area in pass receiving. Jayden Lambert leads the Mustangs, with four touchdowns and 24 points.

First-year Trojan head football coach, Joe Horeni, brings his Trojans to historic Duchon Field, on the campus at Glenbard West.

No. 4 for Glenbard West. Tyquan Cox. All Cox has done is rush for over 600 yards and has scored 10 touchdowns, to lead the Hilltoppers. Hilltopper junior FB Joey Richmond, has added 250 yards and three touchdowns to the Hilltopper ground game.
