MAY 21

Birth of a Garage Band. 1 p.m. at White Oak Library Romeoville Branch, 201 W. Normantown Road. Come and meet local band “Everyone Says” and as share their experiences in starting a band. Learn about the highs and lows, the lessons learned, and the advice they wish they had been given. They will also play acoustic versions of their original songs  Registration is preferred but walk-ins are welcome. Paper Shredding. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fountaindale Public Library, 300 W. Briarcliff Road, Bolingbrook. Fountaindale’s Go Green Team is once again offering free paper shredding. Bring old personal papers to the Library parking lot to be shredded on site! The limit per household is three boxes or bags (any size). Electronics recycling will not be offered at this event.

Scrabble Club. 6 to 8 p.m. at White Oak Library Romeoville Branch, 201 W. Normantown Road, Romeoville.No experience is necessary. Just come and have some fun! The library will provide refreshments and the Scrabble boards, or feel free to bring your own. Open Craft Night. 6:30 p.m. at Fountaindale Public Library, 300 W. Briarcliff, Bolingbrook. Socialize with other crafters while you work on your own craft projects. Drop in; no registration required.

MAY 25

TRIAD Senior Health, Safety, & Lifestyle Expo. 9 a.m. to noon at the Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center, 55 Phelps, Romeoville. This free annual event is tailored specifically to the needs of senior citizens. Over 75 organizations and vendors will be on hand to describe their services and hand out freebies. MAY 26

Cruisin’ the Square. 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Edward Hospital Athletic and Events Center, 55 Phelps. This nostalgic downtown event features a classic car show, food and adult beverages, music, entertainment, inflatables and more. There is no pre-registration required to show your car. All car types are welcome. Sponsored by the Village of Romeoville and the Romeoville Area Chamber of Commerce.

JJC Summer Farmers Market. 2-6 p.m. at the Joliet Junior College Greenhouse Facility, 1215 Houbolt Road, Joliet. Farmers Market season is here, and Joliet Junior College is pleased to bring its annual farmers market for a fourth year. The 2016 Farmers Market will be open Thursdays from May 26 to Sept. 15.

MAY 28

Busy Beavers Craft Club. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Road. Learn to make a craft you can take home. Each month will feature a different craft activity. The free program is for ages 15 and younger. Registration is not required.

MAY 30

Memorial Day Service. 10 a.m. at Edward “Doc” McCartan Veterans Memorial, 11 Montrose Dr. Celebrate and honor the veterans at the Memorial Day Service.
