Taught by the Romeoville Police Department, the Citizens Police Academy, a 12-week course gives citizens of the community a working knowledge of the Romeoville Police Department. Get to know the members of the Police Department and better understand how and why officers make the decisions they do.
A different topic is taught each week: Gang awareness, Law (criminal/traffic), Traffic Stops/Radar (hands on), Firearm safety, K-9 procedure and an opportunity for a patrol ride-a-long.
Applicants must be 18 years of age. Applications are due by Aug. 26. The first class begins Sept. 13, and meets each subsequent Tuesday from 6:30-9:30 p.m. for 12 weeks.
Applications can be picked up/dropped off at the Romeoville Police Department, 1050 W. Romeo Road or mailed. Applications are also available online at www.romeoville.org. Complete application, print and return to the Police Department.
