VVSD receives school supplies from area businesses and community members

Local residents and business community members donated more than 2,000 school supplies to the Romeoville Area Chamber of Commerce school supply drive which was conducted in July and August.

The supplies will be given to students from low income families in Valley View School District 365U elementary schools in the village. Among the donations: glue sticks, bottles of glue, lead pencils, colored Pencils, scissors, crayons, pencil boxes, Ziplock type Storage Bags, Sharpies, highlighters, lined paper, spiral notebooks, Wet Wipes, rulers, folders, erasers, pencil sharpeners, pens, washable markers, tissues, index cards, Post It notes, dry erase markers, paper towels, 3-ring binders, mini memo pads, book covers and a dry erase board.

The Muslim Association of Bolingbrook, in collaboration with Islamic Circle of North America Relief USA, has donated 78 backpacks filled with school supplies to Valley View School District 365U.

The materials, which were donated through a local drive as part of a service mission to help low income families, will be given to VVSD children whose families might not otherwise be able to afford them.

Masjid Al-Islam on 560 E. N. Frontage Road, and the New Masjid Community Center at 351 Veterans Parkway, are both managed by the Muslim Association of Bolingbrook, a non-profit religious organization incorporated in the early 1990s. The Association was started to provide Islamic education and activities to strengthen the community religiously and socially, based on the principles of Islam.

The Islamic Circle of North America, established in 1968, works closely with many national interfaith organizations for the betterment of society, focusing on self-development, education, outreach and social services.
