Romeoville woman wins $250K prize

Romeoville resident Nishita Patel played an Illinois Lottery $250,000 Crossword ticket and   ticket and instantly won a $250,000 top prize. 

Patel was at Homers Liquors, 13011 W. 143rd St. in Homer Glen, when she bought and scratched her ticket.

When asked about her plans for the winnings she said, “I am going to make wise investments.” 

Homers Liquors received $2,500, one percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket. $250,000 Crossword is a $10 instant ticket. Of the 56 top prizes of $250,000 available, eight have not yet been claimed.  For more info, visit illinoislottery.com.   

Library card sign-up month underway

September is Library Card Sign-up Month—a time when libraries across the country remind their residents that a library card is the key to limitless opportunities.

Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. It is a time when the American Library Association and libraries join together to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step towards academic achievement and lifelong learning.

Stop in to any White Oak Library District branches with a photo I.D. that has your current address, to receive a library card.
