Coming off a Frontier League All-Star spot, Slammer shortstop Chaz Meadows’ contract has been purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Meadows was in his first season with the Joliet Slammers.  During his time with the Slammers, Meadows hit .269 with 6 doubles and a triple.  Defensively, he posted a .948 fielding percentage.

Meadows was selected to represent the East Division in the Frontier League All-Star Game last week.  In the All-Star Game, Meadows was 0-1 and drew a walk as a substitution.

Last season, Meadows played shortstop for the Sonoma Stompers of the Pacific Association where he posted a .254 batting average with 4 doubles, a triple, and a home run.

The Concord, CA native played his collegiate baseball at Long Beach State University.  Meadows chose Long Beach State over Fresno State, Oregon, Arizona State, Oregon State, Stanford, and Arizona.  Meadows was an Honorable Mention All-American by Collegiate Baseball out of Clayton Valley High School.  In his junior year of high school, Meadows was named Diablo Valley League MVP and was also named to the All-State team.
