The village was front and center on national television last week, thanks to Stephen Colbert and Plainfield native Melissa McCarthy having a little late night fun.
On May 11, Colbert welcomed McCarthy for a bit called Community Calendar, where the host of the Late Show on CBS invites celebrities to talk about the goings-on in their home towns.
Colbert and McCarthy listed a handful of local ribbon cuttings, poked a little fun at upcoming community events, and even mentioned Coffee with the Mayor.
The Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce was delighted by the plug.
“Shout out to Melissa McCarthy for representing Plainfield last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the chamber posted on its Facebook page. “We love all the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce events being used! Check it out if you haven’t yet!!”
