Blain’s Farm & Fleet recently broke ground on its future site at the southwest corner of Airport and Weber roads. Nearly 30 acres of land will be dedicated to new retail with the addition of a new Blain’s Farm and Fleet and seven additional retail outlots.
The Romeoville village board recently annexed the property and approved a general development plan for a 122,000-square-foot facility and the additional retail that will be named and approved at a later date.
The property will mirror that across the street, with a similar layout to that of the Sam’s Club development. The internal access roads will line up with existing stop lights. The building is expected to be made of precast concrete and several design features to keep with Romeoville design standards, including stone walls and a pergola at the main entrance. A covered customer pick-up area also will be included.
Plans also include for decorative landscaping and a retention pond to be located at the corner of the lot due to topography of the land.
The proposed building will employ more than 100 associates.
This will be the company’s 37th store and the first in Will County.
The new design is the first of its kind, and incorporates many green aspects while providing customers a more enjoyable shopping experience.
The expected completion date is fall 2016.
