Romeoville Police Department arrested Jaquan Wilkins, 22, of Chicago for allegedly shooting his girlfriend and an unidentified male friend on the 200 block of McKool Drive in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 3.

At 1:51a.m. the Romeoville Police Department responded to a call of shots fired. When officers arrived at the home they located two victims, both shot, laying in the yard of the residence. Officers immediately began first aid on both victims until the Romeoville Fire Department arrived. The victims were a 23-year-old female and a 22-year-old male. The female had been shot on the right shoulder and her lower abdomen. The male was shot on his left shoulder. The female was able to tell the responding officers that Wilkins, her boyfriend, had shot them. Both victims were transported with non-life threatening injuries to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

During the investigation, Romeoville detectives located Wilkins’ vehicle in a large semi-truck parking lot in McCook. A perimeter and surveillance were established on the lot. Wilkins soon exited a semi-truck, walking around the outside of the vehicle. Officers from the Cook County Sheriff’s Police 5th District SWAT team approached Wilkins, who fled into the truck lot. Officers located an open shipping container and when the Romeoville Police Department K9 officer announced his presence Wilkins surrendered to officers. Wilkins was transported to the Romeoville Police Department.

The Will County States Attorney approved two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. Wilkins was then transported to Will County Adult Detention Facility to await a bond hearing.
