Registration for the 2016-17 school year in Valley View School District 365U will take place between from Aug. 1-5 with dates varying by school. Back-to-school booklets will be mailed home after July 1.

Elementary school students who register during the mail-in period from July 1 to July 22 are not required to come to August back-to-school registration days. However all middle school and high school students must come to August registration even if they registered by mail because they must pick up their student IDs, schedules and locker assignments.

The district will require all students, regardless of grade level, to provide proof that they are residents of the district before they will be allowed to register for classes. The verification process is simple if a student’s address or guardianship has not changed from the past school year.

A parent or guardian must provide their own photo ID and one of the following documents to prove residency:

  • Signed lease for the current school year with the name of the parent or guardian, a landlord’s signature and a contact phone number;
  • Mortgage statement for the current (most recent) month or the 2015 Will County property tax bill;
  • Utility bill from the past 30 days in the name of the parent or guardian on it or mail of a business nature (no more than 30 days old) that was sent to the parent or guardian at the home address.

If there is an address or guardianship change, parents will need to stop by the Administration Center before back-to-school registration can be completed.

The first day of school for all students is Aug. 17. It will be a full day.

BHS’ Avery, Callahan named to All-State production of ‘Sweeney Todd’

Two Bolingbrook High School students have been selected to participate in the 2017 All-State production of “Sweeney Todd”.

Sophomore Spencer Avery will play the role of Adolfo Pirelli while junior Joe Callahan will be part of the stage crew for the Illinois Theatre Association production that will take place Jan. 5-7 during the Illinois High School Theatre Festival in Champaign.

“This is a huge honor for both Spencer and Joe, and a great indicator of the immense theatrical talent that we foster at BHS,” said BHS English teacher and Thespian sponsor David Morrison, who is director of the BHS fall play and assistant director of the spring musical.

Both students auditioned and interviewed with hundreds of others from across the state. Over the next six months, they will travel to different schools around the region to rehearse and build the show.

Oak Park-River Forest’s Grant Reynolds secured the lead role of Sweeney Todd. Other high schools represented in the main cast include Waubonsie Valley, Glenbrook North, West Aurora, University High, Yorkville and Libertyville. The ensemble includes 27 students from 23 different high schools.

The Illinois High School Theatre Festival is the largest and oldest non-competitive high school theatre festival in the world. In addition to the All-State production, over 4,000 students, teachers, university representatives, exhibitors and volunteers stage more than 25 different productions and workshops during the festival.
